About The Man Zone
The story behind the message
Richard Vanderboom’s own journey through strength, struggle, and recovery forced him to rethink what it really means to be a man.
Meet Richard Vanderboom
Integration born of necessity and experience
Richard brings more than two decades of experience in policing, his own journey through trauma and recovery, and professional training in psychotherapy to The Man Zone.
He’s lived it. He’s studied it. Now he’s sharing his journey to help other men better understand themselves, build stronger relationships, and develop a fuller kind of strength to lead well and love deeply.
“We’re called to be dangerous in order to protect.
And we’re called to be kind in order to love.”
Leadership takes strength and courage. But what happens when you don’t feel strong or courageous? Pushing harder only leads to burnout. Pretending robs you of your very soul.
There’s another side of leadership that many of us were never shown how to develop—or even knew existed.
Strength alone can only take you so far. Real leadership requires reflective insight into what we’re carrying, how we’re feeling, as well as our own personal limitations. It means leaning on others when the burden begins to break us.
Masculine leadership isn’t about choosing between invincible and vulnerable. True strength integrates both.
We can help with that integration.
“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”
